Moldavian Federatiomof UNESCO Clubs
Activity report on 2002
Extract

The Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs mission of promoting and implementing the ideas of United Nations and UNESCO are developed at local, national, regional and international level.

In 2001-2002 the Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs activity strategy was launched in several important directions, with participation of different partners, such are the international forums, NGOs, local administration, state institutions and the diplomatic body. Every project is implementing in the same time several strategies.

The Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs activity can be characterized also as an investigation of the young generation society in the field of new technologies and communications and forecasting on new perspectives.
The Moldavian Federatiom of UNESCO Clubs and WOTC original programs and projects develop at young generation the metaphoric thinking and imagination, but also the brain of an corect and durable Democraticy Society.
The children and youth who participate at achieving Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs projects aren’t narrow-minded, they can’t stay indifferent of their future, of their family’s future, their villages, their country, their planet.
Moldavian Federation is also named the school of life, although the children and youth who „pass” this „school” don’t receive awards and don’t pay for learning to live beautiful and interesting and for spiritualy development. At Moldavian Federatiom they learn the true democracy school that puts you in the middle of the local, national and international events, teaches you to contribute at prospering of the society you live in. It learns you the dignity of being HUMAN.
These young men won’t emigrate in occident, they will collaborate with it.
Now, when the mutation of imagination to loving the evil is taking place, the adoring of the terror – the activit Moldavian Federation y is like a vaccine against this evil.
The activity of the Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs opens new and original ways of collaboration at local, regional, national and international level.

Talented Children World Forum:
a) Intercultural Dialogue:
The most original intercultural dialogue from South-East of Europe, developed through International Festival-Contest “Little Prince” – is a beautiful partnership experience. This Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs project is taking place since 1995 nationwide and since 2001 is a part of the Talented Children World Forum.
The long-term basis project „Les Enfants de l”Europe – Messager de la Paix dans le monde entier” that is carried out between 29 May – 2 June through International Festival-Contest of Young Talents „Little Prince” already reached its 9th edition is the most original dialogue between countries and civilizations from South-Eastern Europe – intercultural is a beautiful partnership experience. This project that belongs to Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs is taking place since 1995 nationwide and since 2001 is a part of the Talented Children World Forum. The project involves a wide audience composed of organizers and as well of beneficiaries. At the event participate students from different countries accompanied by their parents, teachers of different religions and nations, an international children jury, an international jury of professionals, diplomatic body, the media..
The 2002 edition was developed under the highest patronage of Mr. Walter Schwimmer, General Secretary of the Council of Europe. Although the preparation of the event costed a lot of trips in Moldova’s villages and in other countries for the participants’ selection, the result was formidable. Participated 67 young people extremely talented of 16 nations from 8 countries. For the first time since the Nistru conflict at the project participated youth from transnistrian region, proving in this way their attitude to the separatist policy from Tiraspol.

The new structures created after the implementation of the project are new Council of Europe Clubs and special points of reporters of Young Journalists Agency „AMP-International” în Tighina, Tiraspol, Dubasari, Slobozia, Balti (Moldova), Moscaw (Rosia), Cernauti (Ukraine), Bacau, Bucuresti (Romania), Dobrich (Bulgary) etc.
b) „I speak your language, You speak my language”:
The project „I speak your language, You speak my language” launched in 2001 (the European Year of the Languages) in the framework of the long-term basis program „Talented Children World Forum” has brought together in an original online dialogue pupils and students from different countries. A month at Moldavian Federation’s general headquarters was speakied each day another Moldavian minority’s language: Russian, Ukrainian, Gagauzian, Armenian, Polish, Hebrew, English, French, Italian etc.

As a result were created new structures – „Moldova and its Minorities”, UNESCO Club, national ONG.
Child’s Rights – National Debates:
Moldavian Federation is the NGO that not only defences the child’s rights, but also supervise the de facto implementation of each right. For attracting in debates as much peoples as it is possible, (pupils, teachers, children, parents etc.) especially in the rural areas Moldavian Federation has created a televised project “Youth and international forums”, achieved through TV show “Little Prince” (that is financially supported by the poetess R. Verejanu with her doctor’s scholarship). Weekly, for 30 minutes the youth from different villages proposed for discussions different cases of violation the child’s rights, made contests for underline how we know our rights and obligations, developed surveys on streets of Moldavian cities and villages on theme “Youth and international forums” such are UN, UNESCO, Council of Europe…. The shots were produced on field, in different villages, being attracted in this way in developing the project also local authorities with its divisions and many participants.

The show’s credit titles had the emblem of Council of Europe that seemed written by the hand of a pupil, and each start had a face of another child. The show became very popular.
Unfortunately, with the changing the leadership of the television, for the show was asked fabulous sums of money, money that the Moldavian Federation volunteers haven’t, but they would not pay such a television with corrupt editors.
The Decade of the Culture of Peace and Non-Violence:
Once with announcing by United Nations and UNESCO the decade of “Culture of Peace and Non-Violence” 2000 UNESCO Manifest, – the Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs has launched in 2000 a big program “Great Tour of Peace” that is carried out since 2000 through the project “Le Petit Tour de l’Europe” – First Caravan of the Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the benefit of the children from Eastern Europe to Occident.

Civil Society Development:

Moldavian Federation continued to develop the Civil Society, creating new NGOs with and without status of juridical persons, registering at Moldavian Justice Ministry: the Young Journalists Agency „AMP-International”, „Moldova and its minorities”, etc. Was created the First Internet Center for pupils in Moldova, Council of Europe Clubs at Moscow, in villages from North of Moldova, in Romania, Ukraine, Bulgary etc.
The Internet Center has challenged in Moldova of rural localities a creation movement of Information Society among children and their parents. The Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs has discovered that the teachers from schools and colleges know very poor the ITC, organizing for them free trainings.
For young journalists and children and youth NGOs leaders was created a forum, a network – wotcmoldova.yahoogpoups.
Contributing at preparing the Geneva Summit, the children-volunteers from Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs have created the first online magazine from Moldova: „The Year of the Sheep”, that already has 10000 members, who have received the first issue of the children’s Online Magazine.
The Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs volunteers have actively participated at discussions of the Forum organized by UNESCO between 9 December 2002 – 15 January 2003.
Youth and the UNESCO,
Youth and UN:
Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs has confirmed in its statute that is an NGO that promote the ideas and activities of United Nations and UNESCO. A more fruitful collaboration was begun at the same time with launching the Project „Le Petit Tour de l’Europe” Manifest UNESCO 2000, this being the First Caravan of the Culture of Peace and Non-Violence from Eastern Europe, Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs becoming one of the actors of the Decade 2001-2010.
In 2002 had in the UNESCO Events Calendar website several events of local, national and international level, such are:
European Conference of the Young Journalists, 8th edition, 3rd online edition,
The Caravan of the Culture of Peace and Non-Violence, this edition having a new formula, 12.09.2002
Talented Children World Forum, etc
In the first days of 2002 the President Moldavian Federatiom of UNESCO Clubs and World Organisation of Talented Children had also participated at different events organized at Strasbourg and at Moldova, Romania etc.
ICT –New Technologies and Communications – Information Society
Networks created by Moldavian Federation have challenged creation of another networks, from the South-Eastern Europe and former Soviet Union, who became carriers of cultural and social connections, local, national and international relations. The autonomy after professionalism of the network gives trust in their actors. After the information, artistic and intellectual level the networks and the forums organized by Moldavian Federation have a superior level in comparison to the level of the most part of youth’s discussions from this transition time. Training youth what is culture of peace and non-violence, the culture of tolerance – it’s not easy when they pass to capytalism and all accents are puttingon money.
Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs knows the impotence of state institutions in developing a network nationwide or at least in its divisions. President took a fabulous loan for his financial situation and gave it to children, buying the most sophisticated aparats that allowe the connection and spreading of some high-quality Internet services. This generous gesture made the Moldavian Federation volunteers to to study thoroughly this domain that offers all the possibilities: the only Internet UNESCO Center with status of NGO offers unlimited possibilities to the studious youth, without financial sources.
The wealthy countries didn’t proved to promote new technologies in the former Societ Union or in South-Eastern Europe, thing that worsen a lot the collaboration. A simple example – a letter from Council of Europe (Strasbourg) or UNESCO (Paris) reaches Moldova in 1-2 months, usually after the event is taking place.
Although the children from Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs don’t dispose of funds, they didn’t expected their arrival, but have found possibilities to conceive and host for free a few web sites, exiting the anonimity with thier projects, with their interesting and original activity, even if it’s not presented in an excellent shape, the work has its praises. A lot of pupils from villages can’t see the difference between an e-mail address and a web page, coming to Internet Center holding papers with web sites names, asking us to send a letter. The electronic media begun to appear, but the access at her is very poor for urban population, the rural population staying far from the possibility of having access in a near future at Information Society. For this reason the electronic media hasn’t its expected result. That’s why Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs are dealing with population training to write and read, new technologies and communications, and then propose them online magazines etc.
Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs, preparing molders in this domain from rural area, among teenagers and youth being in difficult situation, women and children, has launched monthly a program of studying, each event leavinginterested those who wanted to know what is virtual world. Knowledge of new technologies and communications develops the culture of innovation and creativity. It pulls out the children and youth from the spiritual and social isolation. It makes work more easy, more attractive.
The range of events carried out by Moldavian Federation in 2002 is magnificent:

Education and Culture:
The education is the main purpose, as Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs members are pupils and students: the young generation. The permanent, continue education, education through new technologies and communications of an Information Society, education through culture of self-respect to other peoples, to other nations and religions, the respect to minorities, education through dialogue and collaboration, education through active participation at creation a free and independent media, education of honest journalists, education of civil society where the voluntariat plays a priority role, education of culture of peace and non violence, education of knowledge and defensing of Child’s Rights, education of language diversity, education of active participation of young generation – this is the final purpose of Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs projects.

In 2002 Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs has developed several important projects at local, national, regional level as well as at international level:
“Civil Society’s personalities are saying NO! to violence”, “Violence bands from the proximity of school”
“Oficials’ aggresivity witvin NGO’s volunteers” etc.
Charity: Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs is not a charity foundation, is an creation NGO, where all the activities are carried out, implemented, achieved and ruled by volunteers: children and youth. The single pay for their work is the joy they have; they are those who develop the activity successfully.
With all this, in 2002 the Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs gave to schools and children being in difficult situation books in different language, magazines, newspapers, photographic aparats, has paid for them performance halls and concerts in sum of 5000 euro.
The Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs President, the poetess and journalists Renata Verejanu gave to children 10000 of minimum salaries, creating the „ Internet”, UNESCO Center.
Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs offered a trip to mountains for 40 children for a week, supporting the accommodation and meals expenses.
Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs has offered an excursion to Bucharest for 12 pupils, supporting all expenses.
Parteneriat:
Moldavian Federation of UNESCO Clubs has good partnership relations with local and regional authorities no matter where is taking place the event. But, having general headquarters at Chisinau, where are developed a big part of the events, the most long-living collaboration links we have with Chisinau City Hall and its sub-divisions.
